Magic Bunny
Funny, friendly, kind and curious, Mauro Bergonzoli’s magic bunny loves to pop up randomly in paintings, sculptures, shoes, fashion and accessories. With his signature blue eye wide open he observes and questions the world around him. Expressing his thoughts in abbreviated contemporary statements the magic bunny often reflects on the current global mood.
Sometimes it’s a lady, sometimes a gentleman bunny, depending on the artist’s placement of eyelashes and lips. The magic bunny first began to appear in 2006 when Bergonzoli was working on several museum exhibitions in South America. In Buenos Aires Argentina he met and fell in love with his Muse.
“I don’t choose what I paint. The characters just come to me and ask to be made visible. One day I was feeling completely free and my magic bunny simply appeared. He symbolizes reproduction, freedom, magic and love.”
